Axis Educational Trust is thrilled to announce a Talent Contest as part of our 30th Anniversary celebration event, scheduled for 22 October 2024 at the Art Depot, Pentland Theatre, North Finchley.
We invite talented individuals or groups aged 10-18 to showcase their skills in performing arts (acting, singing, musical theatre, dancing, acrobatics) or visual arts (drawing, painting, digital art, photography) under the theme “United We Thrive, Together We Shine ”. This contest aims to highlight and promote community cohesion through diverse and creative expressions.
Examples of performances can include singing a song that promotes unity, performing a dance that reflects cultural diversity, acting out a scene that emphasises community cohesion. Or participants may create a visual art piece that illustrates togetherness using various drawing, painting or photography techniques.
Participants can prepare by rehearsing regularly, seeking feedback, and refining their work or performance. Both individual and group entries are welcome, allowing for a range of creative collaborations and expressions.

➠ Selection Announcement: 14 October 2024
➠ Live Performances and announcement of winners: 22 October 2024
Rewards for performing arts category
15 performances will be selected to attend the final competition on the 22 October 2024.
Each selected participant to attend final will automatically qualify for £100.
In addition, the winners will be awarded following cash prizes:
- £500 for the winner
- £300 for the runner-up
- £200 for third place
Performing Arts Competition
Application:
Participants will submit a video draft of their performance which may include an explanation of final version using the online form below. The performance should be 3-4 min long. If the performance exceeds the time limit more than 15 seconds, penalty points will be deducted.
Judging Criteria: (Acting, Singing, Musical Theatre, Dancing, Acrobatics)
- Technique and Skill (20 points)
- Mastery of the specific art form, including vocal clarity, pitch, tone quality for singing; accuracy and control in movements for dancing and acrobatics; clarity and projection in acting.
- Control, balance, and stability in movements (dancing, acrobatics) or breath support and vocal control (singing, acting).
- Performance and Expression (20 points
- Ability to convey emotion and tell a story through performance, connecting with the audience.
- Confidence and poise on stage, ability to captivate and hold the audience’s attention.
- Interpretation and Creativity (20 points)
- Originality and innovation in the interpretation of the piece or choreography.
- Quality and complexity of choreography for dance and acrobatic performances.
- How well various elements (acting, singing, dancing) are integrated in musical theatre performances.
- Overall Impact and Consistency (20 points)
- Consistent quality and engagement throughout the performance.
- Overall impact and memorability of the performance.
- Relevance to Theme (20 points)
- How well the performance aligns with the given theme (United We Thrive, Together We Shine) or topic (Community cohesion, Inclusion, togetherness)
- The performer’s unique interpretation and presentation of the theme.
Visual Arts Competition Application
Drawing and Painting work should be on a A3 size paper. Digital art and photography need to be original without using AI. You need to submit a photo of the artwork or a copy of digital art work/photograph in pdf, jpeg or png formats using the online submission form. You should also post the original artwork (drawing and painting) to the Axis Educational Trust, 16-17 Grand Arcade, London, N12 0EH.
Judging Criteria for Artwork (Drawing, Painting, Digital Artwork & Photography)
- Originality and Creativity (20 points)
- How unique and original is the concept or idea behind the artwork?
- The level of imagination and creativity demonstrated in the composition and execution.
- Technique and Skill (20 points)
- Mastery of the medium used, including brushwork, line quality, shading, blending for traditional art, or digital tools and techniques for digital artwork and photography.
- Precision and care taken in the creation of the artwork.
- Composition and Design (20 points)
- The arrangement of elements within the artwork and how well they complement each other.
- Effective use of negative and positive space to create a compelling composition.
- Expression and Impact (20 points)
- The ability of the artwork to evoke an emotional response or convey a powerful message.
- The overall impression and impact the artwork has on the viewer.
- Relevance to Theme (20 points)
- How well the artwork aligns with the given (United We Thrive, Together We Shine) or topic (Community cohesion, Inclusion, togetherness)
- The artist’s unique interpretation and presentation of the theme.
Rewards
15 artworks will be shortlisted and qualify for £50 reward automatically.
In addition, the winners will be awarded following cash prizes on the gala night:
- £200 for the winner
- £150 for the runner-up
- £100 for third place
