The Knowledge Tests and Team Challenges will be based on the resources and topics relevant to the following age categories:
English Competition
Young Master Challenge’s English Competition will create an opportunity for international students to grow culturally, emotionally, academically, socially, and spiritually, especially through a stimulating and challenging learning environment which promotes the practice of the English language in a structured and purposeful concept and at the appropriate level.
English Competition emphasises the value of spoken language in students’ overall cognitive, social, and linguistic development. Reading and writing are developed on the foundation of spoken language. Our efforts consequently make sure that students’ confidence, competency, and speaking abilities are continually developing. Students should be able to articulate their understanding of texts and visual literature, as well as organise their thoughts before delivering their speech. Our selected resources, topic-related questions, knowledge tests and challenges will enable students to create solid foundations by employing conversation and supporting students in making their thoughts apparent to themselves and others.
Good comprehension depends on both linguistic expertise, particularly in the areas of vocabulary and grammar and global awareness. Through the students’ development of comprehension experience of engaging in fruitful conversation in real situations, reading and discussing a variety of articles and a wide range of resources. To enhance their understanding of themselves and the world in which they live, cultivate an appreciation and love of reading, and acquire knowledge across a variety of sources, all students must be encouraged to read widely. Reading interesting texts encourages students’ creativity and allows inquisitive young minds to explore a world full of wonder and joy.
The Young Master Olympiad creates natural opportunities to expand students’ vocabulary. Clarity, audience, purpose, and context encourage students to comprehend word relationships, subtle differences in meaning, and how to enhance their grasp of and proficiency with figurative language using the target vocabulary list. Forming, expressing, and communicating ideas while also organising them logically for the audience and reader constitute effective composition.

Competition Structure
English Competition is made up of the Knowledge Test (Online and Onsite), and the Team Challenge (Onsite Only).
The Knowledge Test will consist of a set of multiple-choice, single and multiple-entry questions on a range of vocabulary, verbal reasoning, comprehension, paragraph and writing tasks based on topics and resources shared with the participants before the test. The depth of knowledge, vocabulary and comprehension will be convenient for the age groups.
Participants will have 60 mins to complete 20 questions, which will have three levels of difficulty and each level will have different weighing to contribute to the final score of 100. 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer given.

Challenges
In addition to the Knowledge tests which can be taken online and onsite during the global finals, we prepared exciting challenges to make your global final experience an unforgettable one.
The team challenges will assess English Language knowledge, vocabulary, verbal reasoning, comprehension, writing and presentation skills. Speed and accuracy will define the winning team. Teams of 2-3 or individuals when a team cannot be formed may participate in the challenges by registering before or during the local/global finals. The winners will be announced during the award ceremony.
The team challenge will consist of the following challenges:
Spelling Bee:
Teams will be asked to spell and use the words in a sentence correctly and complete verbal reasoning tasks at varying difficulty levels. The team which completes the most tasks in a limited time will be the winner of this challenge.

Reading Bee:
This challenge involves giving teams a piece of text and asking them questions about it. The questions can test their understanding of the main idea, details, inferences, and vocabulary in a given time. They may be required to analyse it in terms of its structure, style, themes or characters. This can test their ability to understand the literary devices and techniques used in the text.
Writing Bee:
Teams will be judged on their writing skills and creativity. The teams will be given a prompt or topic and some key vocabulary beforehand. They will be asked to complete a piece of creative or narrative writing within a set time frame. The contestants’ writing is then judged on factors such as grammar, use of correct vocabulary, creativity, originality, and overall writing style. The Age categories A and B will be asked to write 150-200 words and categories C and D will be asked to write 400-500 words in 30 minutes.

Speaking Bee:
This challenge involves giving students a topic or a prompt and asking them to prepare and deliver a speech for 3-5 minutes in front of an audience. The judges will score the delivery, content, language, and overall impact of the speech. One or more members of the team may deliver the speech.
Mathematics Competition
Young Master Olympiad’s Mathematics Competition will provide a fun and challenging experience for participants to showcase their knowledge and skills in mathematics. Mathematics Competition will recognise and reward the achievements of young mathematicians to promote the development of conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply mathematical knowledge quickly and accurately.
Mathematics Competition will improve proficiency in the fundamentals of mathematics through varied and frequent practice with problems that get progressively more complex over time. There will be a significant emphasis on the use of mathematical terminology to create an argument, justification, or proof while following a path of inquiry and speculating relationships and generalisations.
Some challenges will require the simplifying of complex issues into several easier steps and persist in their search for solutions, applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and non-routine problems with increasing sophistication. Furthermore, the Mathematics competition will help participants’ understanding of representations of mathematical concepts as an integrated discipline.

Challenges
In addition to the Knowledge tests which can be taken online and onsite during the global finals, we prepared stimulating challenges to make your global final experience an unforgettable one.
The team challenges will assess Mathematical knowledge, logic, reasoning and presentation skills. Speed and accuracy will define the winning team. Teams of 2-3 or individuals when a team cannot be formed may participate in the challenges by registering before or during the local/global finals.
Team Challenge will consist of the following Challenges:
Speedy Bee:
This is a mental arithmetic challenge that tests the ability of teams to perform mathematical calculations quickly and accurately in their heads, without the use of a calculator or other tools. Teams will be given a set of math problems and must solve as many as possible in a certain amount of time.

Logical Bee:
This challenge involves Non-verbal or numerical reasoning tasks that test the team’s ability to understand and analyse information presented in non-verbal or numerical formats, such as diagrams, graphs, tables, and mathematical operations. Tasks may include identifying and solving patterns, number sequences, relationships, transformations, logic puzzles, and picture analogies.
Analytical Bee:
This is a problem-solving challenge that tests the team’s ability to solve mathematical problems. The problems can be in the form of word problems, mathematical equations, or real-world scenarios that require mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Inquisitive Bee:
This challenge will encourage teams to talk about mathematical concepts, their existence, importance and applicability. It may include finding and presenting examples of mathematical concepts and the impact of mathematics in real-life scenarios, in the news, in the community or the industry. The teams can prepare their speeches before this challenge and they are expected to talk for 2-3 minutes. The judges will score the delivery, content, language, and overall impact of the speech.

Why Mathematics and English?
Mathematics and English are important universal languages that are essential for young people to master in today’s world. These skills are not only key to success in education, but also in many career opportunities. English as a language of words, and Mathematics as a language of numbers help us make a positive impact on the world. They are essential for many of your daily tasks. The ability to speak, read, and write clearly and fluently and understand mathematical concepts is a prerequisite for full participation in society.
We hope to inspire and challenge young people to explore and excel in these subjects.
The Challenge is open to participants from single or both subjects.
The competition resources, tests and challenges are designed to be suitable for the following age categories:
