Safe Space Project
As a response to the evident needs in North Finchley presented by the cost-of-living crisis, our Safe Space project is aiming to
- increase community resilience to handle the cost-of-living crisis through well-being and skills workshops
- promote social inclusion by providing a warm place with a meal for people to work, study and gather which exists as an access point for sign-posting to food banks and other services
- expand our organisation’s capacity to respond to emerging needs
If you are experiencing hardship, mental health issues, financial difficulties and looking for a way out then this is a project for you.
We will open our doors to local black, Asian, minority, ethnic and refugee (BAMER) residents Monday-Friday 10am-3pm to provide signposting, a free meal, a warm space and free WIFI for the neediest in our community. Our drop-in will foster a sense of togetherness and mutual encouragement, providing space for people to share knowledge and support each other through hardship. During the drop-in opening hours, we will deliver 1 workshops a week totalling 36 workshops in a year on budgeting, accessing financial services, mindfulness, tackling stress and anxiety, and healthy eating. The workshops will build community resilience and emotional well-being by increasing budgeting skills, knowledge of available financial and mental health services, problem-solving, and mental health awareness.
